“Through the Storm” Album (2003)

After giving my “Walls” album away to some people, I got to feeling it wasn’t a very solid album. I wanted to do better. I wanted a more uplifting and passionate album with more effort put into the production. I spent the whole next year (2003) writing and recording “Through the Storm”.

Once it was done, I designed all the album art, bought a printer that could print on CDs and did an all-out physical album, which I took down to the local Hasting’s and had them sell my copies.

I was finally seeing myself as a real artist and started doing a bit more around town.  I played a few songs at a competition in Tucson and made it onto the competition’s compilation CD.  I also did some minor stuff at other events around the area with the material from this album.

Years later, the title track would become an Ananias song, rewritten lyrically and partially sung by my wife Jess.  With that rewriting, we did a new recording and accompanying video to win us the 2009 Indie Spotlight (a national contest that had a few hundred contestants).  It’s crazy, looking back to this project, to see what the Lord was setting up so far in advance.
