I’m going to start posting more topics with actual depth to them… like I did back when I was cool.  Hahah…  So enjoy my long boring Bible studies, as long as I have the desire to post them.

I’ve been reading through 1st Samuel.  I really like what I’ve come to find out about David.  I see over and over how successful David was based on his strive for excellence.  His “holiness” (for the lack of a better word) opposed to Saul’s “worldliness” was the foundation for the excellent man of God that he was.

-His Trust

Chapter 17

47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

Therefore…

51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword.
When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran. 52 Then the men of Israel and Judah surged forward with a shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of Gath and to the gates of Ekron. Their dead were strewn along the Shaaraim road to Gath and Ekron.

-His Excellence

Chapter 21

3 Now then, what do you have on hand? Give me five loaves of bread, or whatever you can find.”
4 But the priest answered David, “I don’t have any ordinary bread on hand; however, there is some consecrated bread here-provided the men have kept themselves from women.”
5 David replied, “Indeed women have been kept from us, as usual whenever I set out. The men’s things are holy even on missions that are not holy. How much more so today!”

Therefore…

Chapter 18

13 So he sent David away from him and gave him command over a thousand men, and David led the troops in their campaigns. 14 In everything he did he had great success, because the LORD was with him.

His Humility

Chapter 18

18 But David said to Saul, “Who am I, and what is my family or my father’s clan in Israel, that I should become the king’s son-in-law?”

22 Then Saul ordered his attendants: “Speak to David privately and say, ‘Look, the king is pleased with you, and his attendants all like you; now become his son-in-law.’ ”
23 They repeated these words to David. But David said, “Do you think it is a small matter to become the king’s son-in-law? I’m only a poor man and little known.”

Therefore…

30 The Philistine commanders continued to go out to battle, and as often as they did, David met with more success  than the rest of Saul’s officers, and his name became well known.

Yeah, there’s more…  but that’s it for today.  Maybe I’ll continue or go a different direction tomorrow.

Hey… new background, looks good! Amen!! David was so awesome. Even through his shortcomings our awesome God still blessed him. He was truly a man seeking God’s own heart. I Samuel was the book of the Old Testament that just caught hold of my heart, it’s so awesome and so very encouraging to see what God can do in His children and what faith His children had. Awesome A-dam! or Autumn… hahaha!

Hahaha… oops, sorry, maybe it has been the same, it looks different to me. It’s okay, we already established last night that I’ve gone crazy… maybe that’s the case.
