Muhammad, It’s not right that people should see one side of a discussion, especially if it tears down faith. I’m making both sides more accessible. If you’re up for some discussion, then look no further.
The people of Samaria must bear their guilt,
because they have rebelled against their God.
They will fall by the sword;
their little ones will be dashed to the ground,
their pregnant women ripped open.
Hosea 13:16
What a compassionate God your bible states Him to be, you Christian infidel.
Thanks for giving me the chance to discuss this.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
The key to Christianity is God’s grace. You see that those who rebel against our God, who live a life of sin, have thier punishment, just as you quoted. But if we confess such a sin, he will forgive. That’s it. That’s the message. If you accept the first part to be true, you must also accept the second part to get the full picture.
Later
So you say… that to earn God’s favor… you must repent your sins. You must join in communion with Him…
Additionally, you state that God will mercilessly destroy all those who rebel against him, or disagree with him.
Interesting.
Your version of God sounds like a facist dictator to me.
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
See, we were born into sin. It’s not God’s wrath that destroys us, it is our own sinful, selfish nature that separates us from the giver of life, and leads us to our own destruction. God is not the cause of the problem, He is only the solution. Our choice to be separated is the enemy, not God.
So God is not the enemy, eh?
God is only the solution, eh?
Explain this:
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. “Go on up, you baldhead!” they said. “Go on up, you baldhead!” 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD . Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.
II Kings 2:23-24
Those poor 42 youths; mauled by bears… in the name of the LORD, no less.
Those “poor youths” were mocking a man of God. Did you learn your lesson?
Seems to me a true man of God would go and pray for such unguided youths… as opposed to calling down divine retribution… upon a pack of children, no less.
II Kings 2:23-24 refutes your argument that God does not directly punish those who disagree with him. You say that it is not God’s wrath which destroys sinners… How is that not God’s wrath?
Facist dictator.
You keep avoiding the New Testament. Alot changed when God sent His son to give us grace. I’m not saying God was gracious in the Old Testament. You’ve proven that. The law of Moses was a harsh thing… but Jesus brought us grace. Yes God DID, directly punish those agenst him, he still will, BUT, he offers grace. You have to see that.
John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Galatians 2:21
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
hey… I like your answers to Muhammad. I was just asking my husband if I should reply and if so how. You did a good job
Your puppy is sooo cute
My best friend lives in Sierra Vista. Have a blessed Christmas! Patti
Muhammad, you could also check out Nehemiah 1:8-9 where Nehemiah prays, “Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.’ “
The Old Testament has a number of instances where God declares judgment, but it also has many places where God is shows mercy. When God declares judgment on a nation or group of people, he repeatedly gives a chance for them to avoid judgment if they will repent of their sin.
In Zechariah 1:2-3 it says, “The LORD was very angry with your forefathers. Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Return to me,’ declares the LORD Almighty, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the LORD Almighty.”
In Jeremiah 4:1-2 it says, ” ‘If you will return, O Israel, return to me,’ declares the LORD. ‘If you put your detestable idols out of my sight and no longer go astray, and if in a truthful, just and righteous way you swear, ‘As surely as the LORD lives,’ then the nations will be blessed by him and in him they will glory.’ “
nice. i love debating! and winning….hehe. but most importantly giving answers that will cause the unbeliever to question their own beliefs. and begin to take God’s word into consideration. through prayer, anything can happen. and being able to help some one in desperate need of God’s guidence….dude thats the best feeling in the world.

God bless! ciao.

Good defense of the faith, brother, that person left a comment on my xanga as well, I can’t understand why someone would just attack other people of a different faith like that just because he disagrees with them, and of course, I wonder how many of the passages he quoted were in context.
Yet another point for adam. I was kind of confused at the beginning but then I got it. LoL. I thought you were debating against yourself for a moment, LoL.
Good Job… the scripture always proves people wrong!
Merry Christmas!

<LABEL id=HbSession SessionId=”626160753″> *sigh* This is going to be a long post, I can feel it. Sorry Adam but this one is for Muhammad.
<LABEL SessionId=”626160753″> Muhammad – I’m a World Religions minor at university and I’ve just taken a class on Islam. I’ve read the Qur’an through and it seems to me that a lot of what I learned and thought I understood, conflicts a lot with what you have to say, an actual Muslim. First of all, I understand that you don’t like Christians but why are you criticizing the God of the Bible? According to the words of Allah, the Qur’an is a continuation of and actually verify the Scriptures of the Jews and Christians.
<LABEL SessionId=”626160753″> “If you doubt what We have revealed to you, ask those (People of the Book) who have read the Scriptures (the Bible) before you.” Surah 10:94
<LABEL SessionId=”626160753″> Here’s one for the People of the Book:
<LABEL SessionId=”626160753″> “You to whom the Scriptures were given! Believe in that which We have revealed, confirming your own Scriptures, before We obliterate your faces and turn them backward or lay Our curse on you.” Surah 4:47
<LABEL SessionId=”626160753″> Here Allah tells us that the Scriptures of the Jews and Christians, the Torah and Injil (Bible), will be confirmed by the Qur’an and if you don’t understand a word of God, ask one of the People of the Book!
<LABEL SessionId=”626160753″> Secondly, I’m also confused as to why you were surprised by the violence of God as depicted in the Bible. When I read the Qur’an I was floored by the violence of Allah as depicted in the Qur’an! To my understanding, Allah is quite wrathful and “He remains above the feeling of love.” (Al-Maqsad Al-Asna) You say that our God seems to you as a “facist dictator” because of his punishment but Allah himself says in surah 8:12-13, “Strike off their heads. Strike off their finger tips!…because they defied God and his Apostle.” I know that surah 2:257 says that “There shall be no compulsion in religion,” but then in surah 47:4 Allah states, “When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield strike off their heads and, when you have laid them low, bind your captives firmly.”
<LABEL SessionId=”626160753″> Maybe I’m not getting this right but all of his definitely does not make sense in my head. If you can offer any clarification to us Christians who just don’t get it, it’d be much appreciated. I really am interested to know what a Muslim thinks, not just what my text books about Muslims say you think, and I have more questions if you don’t mind answering these. Thanks again.
<LABEL SessionId=”626160753″> Praise to God.

Hey man–
Thanks for visiting my xanga! I’m really enjoying your song, by the way. Very nice harmonies in there!
I’m into music, too. You can hear some of the stuff my brother and I have recorded here. Try “In Your Presence” or “Questioning Sincerity” if you’re interested. The other song is kind of old and personally I can’t stand listening to it now, but hey, try whatever you like!
Oh, and nice job presenting the truth in love!
Cute dog!!
