This Past Month’s Home Projects

Our highest priority with our home projects this past month has been to get the studio into a usable condition.

Success!

It took a lot of smaller steps to get here though, as we had so many disheveled, dusty piles laying around and needing places to be put away.

Once we had put down the rest of the floors in the basement, we built a 2-part bookshelf/ closet.  I still have to finish the top section and another shelf or two.  After that, I’ll see if Jess will make a long curtain to hang over the closet section.

After lots of playing around in our Georgia clay, Jess and I spent a few more days building a shed out of a box from Home Depot (it was big box).  Since the after-picture (above) was taken, we’ve also worked on the roof, dug a trench and laid some bricks around the back of the shed, painted most of it and moved all of our shed-junk into it.  We even have room to spare!

With the studio operable and Jess’ family coming to town for Thanksgiving, I finished the worse of the two bathroom’s flooring.  After pulling up the old nasty stuff and a bit of leveling in the master bathroom, I spent a day laying down some new “sticky tile”, baseboards and trim.

Back on Track

We are so relieved to be able to put our studio to use! (It’s also a good place to hang out with Tony Horton)  Next month we will start tracking for the Ananias album!

As I am “learning” my new studio setup, I also plan on doing a lot of smaller music projects.  In addition to the side projects with my brother (Crude Canvas), I have a collection of older “non-Ananias-stuff” I never really recorded (fully or at all) and want to share.  I may also take my production space and experience to the public and see if I can help out some local artists with some cheap recordings.  We’ll see…
The main thing is that we’re all pumped up to start playing some live music, get this album out and see where the pursuit we’ve thrown our whole lives on goes.
Thank you for checking in on us.  If you’re willing, please pray that the Lord sculpts this album project and begins to open doors to the people we get to encourage and impact.
