Do a Flip, Baby!

Jess is 35 weeks pregnant, and still our son is breech. The doctor wanted to give it another week to see if he would turn upside-down (how he should be positioned), and if not try to turn him by hand.

If that doesn’t work though, the doc said we’ll have to schedule a cesarian. I really want Jess and our boy alike to experience a natural childbirth. The squeeze the baby has to go through to get out is good for them; or so I hear. It gets their breathing initiated and squeezes all the fishy-baby lung fluid out. I always hoped that Jess’ wide hips would provide a blessing of eased childbirth; that she could be a “baby machine”. Of course, I also can’t stand the thought of Jess having to be cut open and take time to heal… for this and future babies (as you have to delivery via c-section every time, after it happens once).

I spent some time last night laying my hands on the baby’s various indistinguishable hard body parts, trying to talk him and ease him into moving around and down. Aside from all the “tricks that don’t work”, there’s not a lot we can do but hope and pray.

Please turn around little guy!
