I guess it’s been about a couple of days by now. Today was the first official Campus Life day for us Youth for Christ staff. Gotta start somewhere… man… we pulled out some basketballs and played with the kids pouring in. Maybe 50 showed up. When we tried to sit them down to hear a short 5 minuite message, over half grabbed their bags and headed for the door. I’m a problem solver by nature… and we’re all created to love God… sounds like it’ll be a fun combination as time goes on.
Jess and I worked out a budget… it’s not really working out like we expecteed though. My hopes were that we’d be able to afford to eat out a few times a week… spend money on a movie maybe… grab a CD every other week or so… but after calculating our bills we realize we’re left with about enough to buy toothpaste and stick to TV diners and corndogs for lunch. I can’t complain though. Nah, we’re learning a good lesson. When I was growing up, my wonderful parents gave us like a doller a week. Somewhere deep in my hardened economics skills, there’s an ability to save money and be responsible. Money is dumb. I’m tired of thinking about it.
i am letting myself spend money here and there…but i know that as soon as i “take the plunge” i’ll have to severely budget myself. so i will be praying for you guys. and good luck with the campus life. i have had a different experience last night with my youth…some guys talking and saying things that i wouldn’t even say…so yes, patience and time are definitely what it seems you and i both need!
maybe this is a chance for you guys to become master chefs? cooking is really really fun if you have a good cookbook that doesn’t list 50 billion ingredients per meal.
