From AZ to GA: Day 2

Yesterday we made really good progress for some solid hours.  We planned to get a hotel early on and have a chance to just kind of recover and gain the energy to be ready to finish the drive and unload.
Making one last stop for diner before heading to the hotel, we ran into a little bit of a problem.  The parents, driving the Penske, decided to turn the truck around in a parking lot so they could walk over to the Subway we were waiting at.  As they pulled into the parking lot though, the tires dipped down in the deep gutter, setting the back end of the truck right down on the street.  The tires started to spin and they instantly knew we were stuck.
As Jess made phone calls and Bill darted around trying to construct a way to push us out, we waited around for a few hours.  It took a while to get the right kind of help, especially in working with Penske.  In the end, we payed a local wrecker $100 to come pull the back end of the truck back off the asphalt.
It felt like a big deal at the time, but really all it did was made the hotel room extra nice.  Somehow we found one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in.  We’ve had a great and very safe feeling sleep.  Now we’re off to cross the Mississippi and continue on to Georgia!
