I’m about a week late in posting this, but better late than never I suppose. Here are the things we’ve been working on in regards to our house this past month:
Floors and Decor
The biggest job has been installing laminate flooring in the entire upstairs and main floor.
Instead of putting trim down against the baseboard, we decided to just take the baseboard off, lay the flooring, then put the baseboards back on, caulk and touch-up with paint.
Once the floors were down in each room, it was easy decorate and fill every room with our things:
Living Room: New Floors & Fan |
Master Bedroom: New Floors & Fan |
Kitchen: New Appliances, Flooring, Sink Faucet, Lights |
Jess’ Office: Paint, New Floors, New Desk |
Guest Room: Paint, New Floors, new door (Studio space until the studio is finished) |
Hall: New Floors …and Link stands there less often now. |
Other Projects
Aside from simply laying floors and populating each room with our stuff, we’ve had a number of projects going on as well. One of the biggest was installing the shower:
Master Bathroom: Tore out and rebuilt walls, installed shower base and back, insulation, green board, spackling/caulking, paint, set toilet, shower enclosure, shower plumbing. |
Laundry Room: When Bill & Chris were here we (but mostly he) reworked a lot of the plumbing in the laundry room area to accommodate for new plumbing setups and to fix very poorly plumbed drainage. |
Back Yard: We had a couple guys come put in a fence/gate for us. Jess also spent a lot of time raking and planting. |
In Jess’ Office Closet, I built a shelf out of plywood and pieces of pine, which she painted. |
Dining Room: New Light (and flooring) |

We also filmed this video a week ago, showing the entire house and making lame jokes along the way. Enjoy!
