In 2005 I moved to Florida to get married, and “start a band” with my wife. Somewhat on the side, I continued writing my own songs, as an outlet to process and enjoy the craft. As a result of then being exposed to a slightly more urban environment I was raised in, I think I picked up a little bit of a hip-hop vibe production-wise (and even tried rapping in a couple of songs on this album).

We moved from Florida back to my home town in Arizona in 2007, where I spent some months polishing these up. Again, I never made a big deal about my music and “released” these, but had an album under my belt that somewhat accompanied a season of my life.

This is very much an album about progression, “building” some aspects of life “burning” others, and repeating both over and over, a line and concept taken from the song “On the Next Page”.
(This rough album art I sketched one day says “Ananias” the name of the band Jess and I use, because I imagined infusing her sound into this album and making it “our thing”, but it was never really the right for us to share).
